In Memoriam -- David Christopher Hurlbert

In Memoriam -- David Christopher Hurlbert

Postby Jeff Jones » Mon Sep 25, 2017 4:22 am

It is with great sadness that I must announce the passing of David Hurlbert this past Thursday evening at the age of 59.

I got the opportunity to work with Dave at one of the local schools recently and saw how enthusiastic he was about teaching chess. His passion very much rubbed off on his students as practically the whole group clamored for the opportunity to answer the puzzles he put before them. He was also quite a selfless person, going above and beyond for his friends when they needed assistance.

I miss you David.I intend to play this LPO with his strategy for attack. He playfully set a strategy to set a fire to his opponent's foot and then to hit them in the head with a hammer. This colorful one-two was true to his strong fighting spirit.
