Charlotte - City of the Year and Chess Festival

In case you missed it, Charlotte was recently awarded "Chess City of the Year" by US Chess: https://new.uschess.org/news/us-chess-annual-awards-winners-announced/

Thanks who all who competed in the first Charlotte Chess Festival, which consisted of the Carolinas Classic, GM/IM Norm Invitational, and Charlotte Chess Center Elite Camp - https://new.uschess.org/news/charlotte-gm-hunting-korley-earns-norm-1-zierk-earns-title/

There are many big weekend events coming up in Charlotte, including:
- U.S. G/10, G/30 and G/60 National Championships, July 20-22, https://www.charlottechesscenter.org/usblitzrapid
- NC Closed Championship, November 16-18, https://www.charlottechesscenter.org/2018-nc-closed
- Charlotte Open, December 20-23, https://www.charlottechesscenter.org/charlotteopen

We will also have GM/IM Invitationals during Labor Day Weekend and Thanksgiving.
